Peptides & Other Anti-Aging Tricks You Need

Peptides & Other Anti-Aging Tricks You Need

The older we get, the wiser we become, especially with our skincare. Aging skin is beautiful as a part of life, but there are so many ways that we can slow down our aging process to enjoy younger healthy looking skin a little while longer.

Having a good skincare routine is the ultimate secret to having good skin. You don’t need a long list of skin care products but you need the right ones for your skin and to be consistently using them to see results. To find the right skincare products for your skin, you need to identify your skin type and ensure that you are looking for products with key ingredients that specifically help with your skincare concerns. In my case, I have been keen on combating aging and it is something I recommend everyone does early on - prevention is key. Some of the skincare ingredients that have recently gained popularity are hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, but one that is super important and less familiar is peptides.

From peptides-filled moisturizers to prioritizing beauty sleep, here are my top anti-aging tips for a youthful glow.

Tip #1: Moisturize with Peptides

As we age, our skin starts to get a little more dry since it produces less sebum which keeps our skin hydrated. The lack of hydration in our face can mean wrinkles and fine lines show more. This is why moisturizing your face is essential. Plus, as we age our natural production of collagen and elastic decreases. I recently learned that one of the key ingredients to look for to combat this are “peptides.”

What are Peptides?

Peptides are chains of amino acids and are the building blocks our skin needs to help produce collagen and elastin.

What can they do for your skin?

Peptides help improve your skin’s smoothness and firmness. And unlike some other ingredients, it’s easy to spot if peptides are in your moisturizer. Take a look for the word “peptide” in the ingredient list.

What makes the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream a good option to try?

I started using the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This cream has been proven to hydrate better than $400 creams. In fact, in a Good Housekeeping Institute’s Beauty Lab study, it was found Olay moisturized 400% better than a cream nearly 18 times its price and beat all other products tested!

What I love about this product is that it smells amazing and, it feels silky and lightweight on my skin. I usually opt for gel moisturizers for my skin type which is combination to oily, but the way Olay formulated this cream I’ve found it doesn’t clog pores, and doesn’t break me out. They also carry a fragrance free version of this moisturizer if you have more sensitive skin. I felt like my skin looked a little more plump using it and it definitely felt hydrated throughout the day. I previously used a cream moisturizer from an expensive skincare brand and in comparison to this one by Olay, it felt way too thick on my skin. I felt that it made my skin more oily than hydrated. Whereas, this Olay moisturizer gives me the perfect amount of hydration. I can easily say the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting cream is an affordable and effective drugstore find.

When looking for an affordable and effective anti-aging skincare product, make sure to do your research. Look into brands like Olay that spend years researching ingredients to deliver the best quality products. I also recommend trying drugstore skincare products before spending hundreds of dollars on prestige products that over promise and under deliver. Products like the Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream deliver the best possible skincare, at a fraction of a cost! Tip #2: Eat Healthy Foods

We have seen this tip countless times but it is not any less important. We know the phrase “you are what you eat,” so in addition to supplementing your skin on the outside, I think it’s important to supplement your skin from the inside. I believe that eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, healthy fats and lean protein are all going to help our skin in the long run. Some of the foods that I include in my diet are:

  • Avocados

  • Pomegranates

  • Papaya

Tip #3: Sleep!

I cannot stress how important this one is. Beauty sleep is REAL. I feel and see the difference in my face when I am lacking sleep. I realized that I function at my best with 7.5-8 hours of sleep but when I get less than that, I can feel the skin on my face droop and notice that my wrinkles and fine lines are more visible. With a toddler, getting enough sleep can be difficult. This is why I try to sleep earlier or even book myself a staycation away to catch up on sleep.

If you are looking for affordable drugstore skincare for anti-aging, definitely try out the Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream and let me know what you think!

PS: I did a fun science experiment to test how the Olay Micro-sculpting Cream hydrates against a $200 prestige cream! I was so impressed with the results! :) Watch it here.
