Apple Picking | Mountain Orchards
My favourite time of the year is upon us and there are so many cute weekend activities you can do outdoors during this time. Apple picking is a MUST every year in early Fall. There is something special about getting to pick your own apples off trees and taking them home. I find that I am more inclined to actually eat the apples everyday or even use them for baking. I will admit, I am not the greatest at baking though since the last apple pie I attempted was a major fail. But if anyone bakes a good pie, I am coming over!
This is the third year I go to Mountain Orchards in Ottawa, Ontario for apple picking and it is seriously one of my favourite places to go. I loved taking Liam this year at this age of 2.5 because he is more aware of his surroundings. He knew why we were there and wanted to participate with apple picking. It was the cutest thing! Mountain Orchards is a perfect place to take your kids because beyond the apple picking, they have some areas that are great for kids, like hay stacks to climb, tractors in the sand, tires to play on top of and even a corn maze!
They have a great variety of apples available at Mountain Orchards. Every type of apple has its time which is pretty cool. For the time that we went, we were able to pick up Mcintosh apples which are a great all purpose apple. Liam had fun picking out apples from the trees and even climbing the ladder to get the ones on top.
On the way out we always pick up some apple cider juice and apple cider doughnuts! They are SO GOOD. If you are ever in Ottawa, I highly recommend stopping by here! Have you guys ever been apple picking? Let me know in the comments!
Love,
Hanan
