Babymoon at Ste Annes Spa
At 32 weeks pregnant I was getting close to full term so hubby and I wanted a short weekend getaway with one another before our small family of two became three. Initially we thought to travel to a resort in south America or overseas, but that would defeat the purpose of a baby moon which is usually meant to be stress free, and simple (at least in my mind!). After doing a little research of baby moon destinations with no flight required from Ottawa Ontario, I came across Ste Annes Spa, only 3 hours away from home. An all inclusive overnight spa cottage experience sounded like the perfect romantic escape, and relaxing getaway with one another.
ACCOMODATION - COTTAGE ROOM
We stayed at the Birdsong cottage in the Eagles nest superior room. I loved how cozy it was and let me tell you, the bed was VERY comfortable. The Eagles nest is on the main floor, so I didn't have to go up any stairs which made it perfect for a preggo experiencing a few aches and pains. Our room had the biggest washroom in the entire house and its own jacuzzi. You bet we started a bubble bath and enjoyed it ;)
This cottage was about a 1-2 minute drive from the main inn. There are shuttle services available to pick you up and drop you off to and from the main inn or you can utilize your own car and park in the parking lot. We thought it would be easier to use our car.
To top it all off, our cottage had its own private outdoor hot tub! If only I wasn't pregnant for a moment right?! Though, I was happy that hubby was able to enjoy it on my behalf.
PACKAGE - BREAKFAST/DINING & SPA SERVICES
Our package was all-inclusive which included two spa services each, and all meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner). We did not have to worry about a thing while being there. Not even tips!
For spa services, I did an Essential Oil Scalp Rejuvenation and an Earth Stone Facial. I think its safe to say, they were the best spa services that I have ever had! The Scalp Rejuvenation felt amazing, especially since I am wearing the hijab for most hours of the day. There is this feeling of stress relief when you get a good scalp massage. The therapist asked me to choose an essential oil for the massage. I chose earl grey bergamot which smelled incredible.
The Earth Stone Facial made my face feel bright, less texturized and fresh. All products used were part of Ste Annes skin nourishment line. I loved the texture and aroma of all the products and I learned that they are made from 100% pure botanical ingredients. I ended up purchasing the toner that she used from the boutique at the main inn! Hubby did a Back Cleansing Stone Treatment and Synchronized Tuning. He felt so pampered from both treatments! The Synchronized Tuning was definitely his favourite. When he came out of the treatment, his face was flushed. He found it very therapeutic and it really got his blood flowing.
From breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, the menu options at Ste Annes Spa are great! The chef is very accommodating with the menu, and it includes various gluten free and vegetarian options. The afternoon tea was my favourite because of its high tea vibe, and y'all already know how I love my high tea :) Their tea selection was extraordinary as well! I tried the Warm Cinnamon Glow tea, the most popular choice for winter, and it did not disappoint.
FACILITIES - HOT TUB, POOLS, WALKING TRAILS
The grotto is located at the main inn. It has a hot tub, a plunge pool for cooling down after heating up in the hot tub, and a lap pool where you can swim against a current. Hot tubs are not recommended for pregnant women so I couldn't go into it, but I definitely took advantage of the other pools.
I didn't get the chance to go on the walking trails because hubby and I just wanted to lounge around and relax in our cottage. The next morning when we planned to go for a walk, it started to rain. So that was taken off our agenda. But it is something we would love to do the next time we go to Ste Annes.
We had such a beautiful experience at Ste Annes Spa for our babymoon. We felt so relaxed by the end of it. Imagine a place where walking around in a white robe, makeup free is a norm. Thats what the Ste Annes Spa experience is all about. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking for a relaxing babymoon. Friendly staff, private room, dining and spa services, you will not regret any part of it. I am sure the summer experience there is even more amazing! I guess I will have to give that a try one day! :)
If you get the chance to go on a baby moon to spend time with your significant other before baby comes, do it! Its not to say you won't vacation with baby, but think about it, this is the last time your mind is for YOU and your own thoughts without it constantly drifting to think about your baby. I loved every moment of it and now I am ready to prepare for my new life filled with adventures with my little one.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Have you been on a baby moon or are planning on taking a babymoon?! I would love to read about it in the comments :)
Special thank you to Ste Annes Destination Spa for hosting this beautiful experience.
